Removals Case study

Move for the National Education Union, Exeter

A full office relocation across Exeter

We were recently appointed to handle an office move for the National Education Union, relocating them from a three-storey building to a new premises elsewhere in Exeter. The job required careful planning to ensure all furniture and equipment were safely moved down through the building. After providing a detailed quote, we were pleased to be chosen as the most competitive option. With our experienced team and a clear schedule in place, we prepared for a one-day move using six vans and six team members.

Managing the space and on-site challenges

We arrived at the original office for an 8am start, with each team member briefed on their role. The job required consistent coordination due to the building layout and volume of items. Once we arrived at the new location, we faced an unexpected hurdle – the space was still being worked on, with decorators and electricians on-site. We worked closely with the contractors throughout the day to make sure we didn’t disrupt their progress, adjusting our route through the building and timing our unloading to avoid crossover.

A smooth and efficient moving day

Despite the extra activity on site, the move progressed without issue. Communication within the team and with the other professionals on-site kept everything running smoothly. Each van was loaded and unloaded in a structured order, which made it easy to position items correctly at the new premises. Having a six-person team meant we could split into smaller groups when needed, allowing us to keep momentum throughout the day. By mid-afternoon, we had completed the final unload and checked that everything was in place as expected.

Completed in one day – on time and on budget

By 4:30pm, the full move was complete. Everything had been relocated, set down safely, and arranged in the new space as requested. The client was delighted with how efficiently the day had run, especially given the added challenge of sharing the building with other teams. There were no delays, no damage, and no disruption to the work going on around us. It was a successful move, completed on time and within budget – a great result for both the client and the team.
