A Move From Sidmouth to Sidmouth
We recently completed a local move in Sidmouth, helping a customer move from a first-floor flat to a fourth-floor flat elsewhere in the town.
Although the distance between properties was short, the move itself required careful planning, good teamwork and plenty of stamina!
The job was carried out by Wayne, Rob and Jamie, who worked together to move the customer’s belongings safely between the two flats. With several flights of stairs at both ends, the team needed to pace the work sensibly while ensuring everything was protected and handled with care throughout the day.
A detailed survey before moving day
Before the customer booked with us, Jamie completed a survey to properly assess the job. This gave the customer a clear sense of how the move would be managed and what would be needed on the day.

For a flat-to-flat move involving stairs at both properties, early assessment was particularly useful. It allowed us to understand the access, prepare the right team, and ensure the move could be carried out safely and efficiently.
Managing a physically demanding move
Moving from a first-floor flat to a fourth-floor flat meant a lot of carrying. With no simple ground-floor access, the team had to manage the job's physical demands carefully throughout the day.
As fatigue started to set in, Wayne, Rob and Jamie took a sensible approach. Rather than pushing through every stair carry in one long stretch, they broke up the work with other tasks, including rebuilding wardrobes and the dining table. This helped the team continue working steadily while making progress on the new flat.
Protecting the mattress on the stairs
One detail the customer particularly appreciated was the use of mattress bags.
With the mattress needing to be carried up several flights of stairs, there was a real risk it would pick up marks along the way.
The mattress bag helped keep it clean and protected during the move, giving the customer extra reassurance that their belongings were being properly looked after.
A small but important part of the process, especially on a move where narrow access, multiple flights of stairs and repeated handling all increased the chances of accidental scuffs or marks.
A smooth local move in Sidmouth
Although this was a short-distance move within Sidmouth, it still came with its own set of challenges. The number of stairs made it a demanding job, but the team planned the work carefully, adapted their pace when needed and kept the move progressing throughout the day.
The customer was very pleased with the service, from Jamie’s initial survey through to the team’s practical approach on the day.
