Removals Case study
A Four-Bedroom House Move From Exeter to Cranbrook
We recently helped a customer move from a four-bedroom house in Exeter to their new home in Cranbrook. After receiving quotes from several local removal companies, they had been advised elsewhere that the job would need to take place over two days. We were confident that, with the right team and careful planning, everything could be completed in one.
Five members of our team were assigned to the move, with a busy morning ahead. The plan was to pack the property, load the vehicles and be ready to leave before 1pm, giving us a clear schedule for the move across to Cranbrook.

A four-bedroom house packed and loaded before 1pm
With a full four-bedroom property to pack and load, the team needed to work efficiently while still taking the appropriate care with the customer’s belongings. Everyone knew their role from the outset, allowing the packing and loading to progress steadily throughout the morning.
Our target was to have the vehicles loaded before 1pm, and the team completed the job with around 30 minutes to spare. By approximately 12:30pm, everything was safely packed and loaded, leaving us ready to head to the new address.
Completing the first stage ahead of schedule gave the customer a strong start to moving day and demonstrated that the move could comfortably be handled within one day.

A delay at the new property
When we arrived in Cranbrook, the previous owners were still moving their belongings out of the property themselves. Unfortunately, self-moves can sometimes take longer than expected, leaving the incoming owners and their removal team waiting for access.
Delays like this can be frustrating, particularly after such an efficient start to the day. Our customer could at least relax knowing that the wait would not result in an unexpected increase to their removal bill.
East Devon Removals does not charge customers for key waits. Regardless of how long we needed to wait for access to the new property, there would be no additional charge for the delay.
No impact on agreed customer cost
Completion days do not always run exactly to schedule. Delayed keys or previous occupants taking longer to vacate a property can delay unloading, even when the removal itself has been carefully planned.
Our approach provides customers with reassurance when circumstances beyond their control cause a delay. On this move, we remained at the property until access became available, then continued the unload.
The delay therefore had no impact on the price agreed with the customer. Once the property was ready, the team could concentrate on completing the final stage of the move efficiently and getting everything safely into the new home.

A one-day move completed efficiently
The customer had previously been told by other removal companies that their house move from Exeter to Cranbrook would take two days. With five experienced team members and a clear plan in place, East Devon Removals was able to complete the packing, loading and move within a single day.
The customer was delighted with both the moving team's efficiency and the service they received throughout the process. From the initial quote with Rob and Jamie to Emma’s updates and the removal team's work on moving day, they appreciated the communication and support provided from beginning to end.

A successful move with a glowing review
Following the move, Wendy left us this 5-star review:
“We couldn't be happier with the service we received. Everything was handled so efficiently, from the initial quote with Rob and Jamie, to Emma keeping us updated throughout, right through to the moving team arriving on the day. Everyone was so polite, respectful, and accommodating, which made what could have been a stressful day feel so much easier. Thank you all for making our move such a positive experience. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend you – in fact, we already have!”
